- Events Management

Our intensive industry based, ‘hands-on’, DIY Events Management course, is an integrated youth social enterprise & Links to Learning initiative of BYS. Each year, course participants are ‘recruited’ as a Rock the YAC Productions Crew member & mentored by Morgyn Quinn (Rudekat Records, Island Vibe & Kuranda Roots Festivals) to conceptualise, manage & produce their own all-ages, drug & alcohol free community event. Fashionista’s enrolled in our Stitch N Style course have been immersed into the world of Fashion drawing, design, pattern making & garment construction by experienced tutors.Our courses are facilitated by either TAFE Wollongbar Fashion teachers or industry tutors who encouragement & expertise develop confidence, design & technical competencies among participants. Youth Enterprise

Our youth enterprise program seeks to create a culture of initiative and enter- prise amongst young people living in the Byron Shire. Funded by FAHCSIA, we integrate enterprise elements into all of our youth programs as well as delivering the following key activities:

Byron Youth Service invite young photographers between the ages of 12 to 24 who live, work or study in the Northern Rivers region, to participate in SNAP! Youth Photography Competition, which has been running since 2008! This FREE competition culminates in a public exhibition at the Byron Youth Activity Centre (the YAC) in November. Read More

Barista Course

Once a month we run a 3 hour Barista course facilitated by a qualified Barista who teaches young students aged between 15 – 24 coffee making skills, grinding the coffee, adjusting the grind, producing a great espresso with thick crema, frothing the milk for cappuccinos, cleaning and maintaining the machine and the grinder.
