Byron Community Barber
Byron Community Barbers creates meaningful connections with young men, keeping them off the streets and including them in positive activities. Through learning the craft and trade of barbering BCB erodes perceptions of toxic masculinity and supports boys to become men.
Currently, 4 x young people are undertaking an intensive introduction to barbering program. Over 5 weeks they are learning basic trade and life skills, communications skills, self-care and respect with a focus on positive aspects of masculinity. Throughout the program role models from the community will attend the shop to tell their story, while getting a haircut.
BCB engages young men to learn a trade, upgrade their life and personal skills and contribute to the community and look good while doing it.
The Barbershop is also open every Thursday for free haircuts or for young people to come and learn about barbering.
