YES M.A.M

Women’s Writing Workshop

6 spots are available for this special opportunity for a young woman and their mother, aunty or mentor to engage in this storytelling and writing workshop.

9th & 10th March 10am - 3pm

‘Yes M.A.M.; Mother, Aunty, Mentor is a FREE storytelling project honouring, maintaining and discovering female stories. Young women 16yr-24yr are accompanied by a mother, aunty or mentor, for a 2-day workshop facilitated by a specialist writer who will mentor women in professional writing and publishing. The accompaniment of a mother, aunty or mentor with a young person fosters deeper relationships and understanding, which leads to a stronger sense of belonging and community. The project will culminate in the creation of an anthology of female stories.

The project will give voice to what it means to be a woman and to understand and shift social constructs, barriers, norms and attitudes. Sharing and writing female stories of diverse backgrounds and diverse life experiences allows for the understanding of the wider social, political and cultural experience of womanhood.

YES M.A.M. will be delivered with funding support from the NSW Government’s 2023 NSW Women’s Week Grants program..
