At BYS, we strive to ensure that young people always have a place to turn if they are going through a rough patch in life.

BYS offer a suite of programs and individual support services to address mental health & wellbeing , housing insecurity, unemployment, gender identity, youth justice and court support & challenges at home or school.

BYS is experienced in these areas so if you or someone you know is struggling, reach out and we can help refer you on to suitable local services and help you get things back on track.

PROJECT U-TURN IS A FOUR PILLARED RESPONSE TO REDUCING YOUTH CRIME IN THE BYRON SHIRE.

The aim is to support young people most at risk of engagement in anti-social behaviours to develop life-skills, community connections, work readiness, positive outlooks for a better future.

PROJECT U-TURN is designed to support youth Employability and life skills training. PROJECT U-TURN will help marginalised youth to develop vocational skills, connect with mentors and prepare for the workforce.

PERFECT PRESENCE is an in-school creative engagement and life skills program to inspire young people who are disengaged from school to re-build learning skills and pathways to education and employment. The program aims to re-engage students through meaningful and exciting group programs, creative projects, inspiring motivational speakers and supportive case work.

PAVEMENT is a casework program designed to assist disengaged young people and reduce their risk of mental health challenges and homelessness. Pavement uses project based learning and a variety of strategies including mentoring, personal interest projects, as well as engagement with external community service providers to reconnect young people with school, family and the broader community. PAVEMENT is funded by the James Frizelle Charitable Foundation.

STREET CRUISE is a street-based harm minimisation program for young people running in Byron Bay on Friday nights. Street Cruise connects with young people and provides support, information and referral. Delivered in partnership with Byron Shire Council and Byron Bay Police this program has been running since 2001.

Cottage Groups in Mullumbimby

BYS has been meeting the needs of young people & families in the north of the shire for many years through providing a safe space at The Cottage.  Hosts girls & boys groups, provides case management, referral, liaison, school & family support, individual support activities!

The program has a close relationship with Mullumbimby High and young people who are experiencing difficulties in one or many areas are referred to participate in groups and/or case management.
